High Cholesterol at Whataburger

Calorie intake is the main concern for people with high cholesterol while dining at a fast-food restaurant like Whataburger. Well, you can always try the Lighter & Smaller options from the menu to cut down your fat intake. Opting for grilled sandwich or burgers are preferred compared to double meat or triple meat cheesy burgers which contain high cholesterol.

Foods to Avoid at Whataburger for High Cholesterol

Cut down on your meat intake to control your high cholesterol. You must skip Double Meat Whataburger and Triple Meat Whataburger at all costs. You should also avoid Avocado Bacon Burger and Monterey Melt as both these burgers contain a high amount of fat. Sweat & Spicy Bacon Burger will add extra 1080 calories in your diet so skip that as well. Whatacatch Dinner may sound tempting but the famous fish sandwich is also full of calories and unhealthy fat. Lastly, avoid French Fries and Onion Rings at Whataburger if you are already ordering a burger or any other heavy meal.

Whipped garlic and kabobs around. Very nice and attentive wait staff. Clean facility, worth the visit! Will be back!

Excellent, excellent food and a great value. I had the kafta wrap, which came with an air pocket pita, garlic aioli sauce, and middle eastern chicken soup. Everything was delicious!

Fantastic middle eastern food! The bread is plentiful and fabulous. Love the "garlic " - super garlicky butter. The service was outstanding. Definitely a new stop for us heading downstate.

I was surprised to find a middle eastern type of restaurant in this part of Michigan. The bread is freshly baked and served hot to the table, the garlic sauce was a little overbearing for my taste but still great on the bread. My co-worker and I wanted to try out their special (one of everything), but was told it would take some time to prepare. We appreciated their honesty since we were rushing to catch a flight (which ultimately was delayed for 1.5 hours but I digress) and ordered the Chicken Shwarma dinner. The Chicken was OK, not as flavorful as I have had in the past, but adding the garlic sauce helped in that department. There was definitely a lot of food for the price we paid. If you're looking for a quick middle east fix in the area, try this place out. I would have liked to try some of the other dishes but time would not allow for it.

The food was excellent and so was the service. I've been twice now and I'll definitely be back again.

Went with 3 friends...the waitress was a sweetheart but forgot several things at different times, and we had to remind her. Grape leaves were good. My chicken was pretty good, I also tried the chicken noodle soup, which was tomato based. My friend of mine even tried raw lamb. Yuck. He said it was kind of bland. Everyone working was friendly...the pita bread with garlic butter was delicious! The garlic flavor was strong, so dont eat this on a first date if you want to kiss them later!

The service was excellent and the food was delicious. We had the lentil soup that came with our entrees and it was ok. Wish we ordered a different side soup. The shish kafta, lamb chops, and shish kabob were very good. It was pretty empty when we went around 8pm on a Saturday. The place was clean and bigger than we were expecting. I recommend this place to any lamb and middle eastern food lovers.

While on our trip visiting friends in Frankenmuth Betty and I came here one evening with those very same friends. So there were four of us and we ordered the four person platter which was enormous and enough for 7 people. Everyone enjoyed the vegetarian filled dolmades more than the lamb ones. I personally liked the grilled chicken satays the most. Let me correct myself, second most, the garlic spread was my favorite part of the meal coupled with the warm naan. When we got our doggie bags we asked for some extra naan that they might have laying around to take with us. They actually through some fresh ones in the fire-filled oven for us. Awesome. And they gave us extra garlic sauce. Double awesome.

This place is super good, especially for a reasonable price. All of the food is very well seasoned with the perfect blends. A good balance of light and filling. They occasionally mess up (my mom got some dry chicken and my friend's soup was cold on a different occasion), but the service is excellent and they are more than happy to keep you happy. Their bread and garlic spread is excellent and the bread is always hot. From appetizers to feasts for 10, this place is great. It's never busy and always hospitable. The only complaint I have is that it's always freezing cold there. However, if you don't mind dining in a sweater or a sweatshirt, it's the best middle eastern place north of Flint.

Food is good but takes forever! Every time I order takeout it's always 10-15 mins longer than they tell me it will be!

This is a great restaurant and I'd highly recommend it. Food is great, especially the bread and garlic butter! And, they partner with Groupon, so there are some good deals out there. Try it!

Very nice server. The decor was a little dated. But the food was superb and much better then typical tri-city fare. Would recommend. As a plus, large portions.

It's in the building where a Chinese buffet used to be, and where Levi's was before that. There's a water fountain with too much water in it, and it leaks all over the floor. When you first walk in you're greeted by the smell of cologne. Ugh. The staff is very friendly, and you'll be seated quickly. Then the waiting begins... Prepare to wait for a very long time to place your order, and even longer before your food is brought out. This isn't entirely bad - you can wolf down all the fresh-baked pita bread you can eat while you wait. It has just enough black color on it so you know it's authentic, like a brick-oven baked pizza. If that wasn't enough, they have this garlic paste which is also incredible, and you'll be able to taste it for about 2 days afterward. Once you finally get your food, you'll be happy with it. Saginaw has needed a place with falafels and such for the longest time. Here's a tip, just call in a take-out order, they never have a problem having it ready on time.

Enjoyed the Mixed Grill dinner combo for two with 4 people and still had leftovers. Very good attentive service. Would recommend and go back on our next visit to Saginaw.

Lentil soup was good. Pita bread was fresh but the garlic spread was kind of odd to me. I had the bread with zatar which was very heavy on the seasoning. I've never had it like that before. Chicken shawarma was dry in my sandwich. It came w the garlic paste (I would hold this if I tried it again) plus I added hummus which was good. Next time I will try baba ganoush and something else. Service was good.

My wife and I had a great dinner here tonight. I used to frequent the Taboon on Miller Rd. when my daughter was @ U of M Flint and since she graduated, I haven't had much chance to get back. So happy to now have the Saginaw location. The fresh baked pita with garlic spread was outstanding, as always. The service was quick and courteous, and Arieannah kept everything full and fresh. Hommous with chicken ghallaba was as tasty as I remember it. I am going to have to try some of the items that are new since I last visited. We will be back!

I had such high hopes for this place, and am so disappointed in our experience. My husband, myself, and our 5 year old twins went to Taboon at 5 pm on a Wednesday. We were greeted and seated immediately, and even placed our drink orders. Our very soft spoken (read: impossible to hear) waiter then took our order. Hubby and I wanted to try the beef schwarma sandwich- at $5.95 each, with no sides, my son is a cheeseburger and fries kid, and my daughter wanted hommus. There is a kid's meal of hommus, veggies and salad. I asked for them to leave the salad off, since I knew she wouldn't eat it, and the waiter tried to change my order to a side of hommus and a side of veggies at over double the price. I ended up just ordering hommus for her, and bread. FYI- bread as listed as a side for $1, although you get unlimited baskets anyway. Once our orders were placed, our bread was delivered. Let me tell you, nothing compares to the bread and garlic spread that Taboon gives away. The pita is soft and pillowy, and the garlic spread will keep vampires away for the rest of your life, but is out of this world! We quickly scarfed down the first basket and were eagerly awaiting a refill. Unfortunately, our waiter was nowhere to be found. About ten minutes later, my daughter's hommus appeared at our table. We weren't offered refills on bread, or drinks at this time. I checked the time- we had been there for 25 minutes. The people behind us were loudly complaining that they had ordered apps and had waited 30 minutes. At the 45 minute mark, a different waitress came to our table to offer refills. As soon as she left, our waiter showed up, and asked if we needed more bread. We said yes, even though we'd already told the other lady yes. At this point, I wasn't sure if we would see either of them again. Ten minutes later, our 2 wraps and kid's cheeseburger were finally delivered to our table. The schwarma was a joke, to say the least. A few chunks of beef, some chopped tomatoes, and a pickle slice (?) wrapped in a pita, with no sauce at all. This thing was the size of a snack wrap from Mickey D's, and was almost 6 bucks! The flavor was ok on the meat, but very dry. The cheeseburger and fries were a cheeseburger and fries. it took all of 5 minutes to eat dinner, and I had to ask for the check. When I looked at it, I saw we had been charged for a burger and a side of fries off the regular menu for $8, rather than the $5 kid's burger, so I had to have that changed, which was no problem. All in all, I won't be returning to Taboon, unless I can get the fabulous bread and garlic sauce to go. It really was the only high point in our much anticipated meal. I am all for having a leisurely 2 hour dinner, if I am also getting proper service and ordering a full meal. However, it's a little long for a couple of sandwiches.

Food is usually pretty decent over there. yet, they can have some bad days today! Service is generally very friendly and nice. I don't eat there anymore, but just order take out. Never had a bad experience over there. It's not the best Arabic restaurant, but it's the only one in the area, so it does the job.

Disappointed. Taboon location in Grand Blanc is light years better. The bread and high is generally the highlight here was not soft and fluffy, the garlic sauce was overpowering, my shwarma was barely warm and the hommus was bland. So disappointed because I was in the mood for delish Mediterranean food like I always get at Taboon Grand Blanc. Darn!

Great food, but they need to lower their dinner prices and hire better servers or train them better. I came with a Groupon for $20 on 10/19/2013 around 1 PM or 2PM or so in the afternoon. We ordered a couple wraps, fries and drinks. Bill came up to $24.87 or something. An extra sandwich combo was added. We asked the waitress to take it off, a dark-haired girl with lip piercings. It comes off and it's now $18.47. She tells us that we need to order something to bring it up to $20. Ok, how about some bread? She says that we can't buy that, which is odd, because I had before. She then suggests the hummus. We say ok. The bill comes back out and it's back up to $24.87 or something again! I told her, what makes you think that we wanted to buy the hummus for $5.99? I thought it was going to be a couple dollars? She basically tells us that she has no clue what we could order on the menu. I ask her to bring me a menu so we can figure it out for ourselves. Immediately, several cheaper options presented themselves. She didn't know about anything that was on the menu. Period. We found the bread for sale on the last page, under sides, for $1.89. UNREAL. I really question businesses that can employ servers that cannot do basic math or bother to examine their own menu. The whole experience was infuriating and left me with a bad taste in my mouth. The food was great, but I do not want to come back to Taboon for a while. I can't believe I tipped 20% either. She didn't deserve it.

Take out service was fast. We ordered shish kafta sandwiches and an order of pita bread with the garlic spread others have raved about. The shish kafta was good, wrapped in a thin bread. The garlic spread was great and I ate a lot, maybe even too much because it is addictive. For around $13 for the two sandwiches, it is well worth it. Good food, flavorful and better than any chain restaurant.

I read most of the reviews others had posted and was a bit pessimistic about dinning here, but since dining options are limited here in Saginaw I was willing to give it a go. I must say that I was impressed and did not encounter what others had listed as slow service. I was promptly meet by the hostess upon walking in and was seated right away. My server showed up shortly after I was seated and asked for my drink order. I ordered a fresh smoothie. She said it would take some time and said she would bring some water as well. She returned a few minutes later to drop off the water, some fresh warm pita bread and some garlic spread. I then order the deboned grilled chicken with tabbouli salad and rice. It too arrived in short order and was good. Chicken was seasoned well and grilled to perfection. Actual portion was large (lots of rice and tabbouli) for the money. I will be going back again.

Well, they haven't done much with the outside of the building, but the interior is beautiful. It's pretty large, with an open kitchen. The food was a mixed bag: the beef kabob and baklava were both fabulous; the rice, hommus and pita were good; the deboned chicken and chicken shawarma were just okay; the fattoush was a real disappointment. None in our party were fans of lamb, so we didn't try it. Service was excellent.

Fairly new place to Saginaw. Had dinner there with another couple. We all were pleased with the service, and with the food. Plenty of food, and seemed prepared to order. Entrees were on the table 25 min. after we sat down. Fresh baked bread ws yummy - had to be careful not to fill upon it. Ghallaba was very good. The shish kafta were good but over cooked and a bit dry. Spice levels were fine, tasty but not what I'd call hot.The other couple had baked kibbe, and hommous with lamb, and liked both. The only other middle eastern place we know in this area is Badawest in Flint and this one compares very well. (Taboon also has a place in Flint).

I hate to write this because I was excited to finally get a middle eastern restaurant around here. But, I am very disappointed. I went to Taboon with eight co-workers on our lunch hour. We all ordered sandwich wraps. Nothing crazy, just wraps. While the waiter was very sweet, and I don't think it was his fault, it took us an hour and fifteen minutes to get 8 wraps, and 6 salads. 90 minutes. For sandwich wraps. The waiter was apologetic, and said he was trying to rush the kitchen. There were three other tables, each with two people, and two other waitresses, and two hostesses...so...plenty of staff. I ordered a chicken shish-tawook sandwich with a side of grilled vegetables. It seemed pretty bland from what I'm used to. Just tasted like grilled chicken, and my grilled veggies was just a plate of grilled green peppers, nothing else. One of the girls wrap bread was soggy/raw. The waiter said he would get her a new one...and he did...within seven minutes. Which left us all scratching our heads...why did that one come out so quick, but the first one took over an hour? While the food was decent, sadly, we won't be making a trip back there. In an hour and a half we could drive down to Ann Arbor to get our falafel fix!

We went to lunch here about a month ago. It was really good and plentiful--service was good too, even for our table of about 8. I'll visit again.

I left very satisfied! We were seated quickly, got our orders filled thereafter, and it didn't take very long to get our food out -- maybe 10 minutes at the most (but keep in mind I visited when it wasn't very busy). The warm bread and garlic paste they give you is absolutely delicious and keep coming out when you ask. I've only tried Middle Eastern food a number of times before, and what I ordered was great as well but nothing too spectacular. The portions are huge, so you bet you can leave with an extra meal for later. All in all, I'm not eager to visit back unless a friend wants to go because dinner prices are a little steep for me. There are many restaurants like this down in Flint/Dearborn/Detroit that are a lot cheaper. But by all means, visit this place at least once! Authentic ethnic food (particularly Middle Eastern) in Saginaw is a rarity.

  • Luna Christine S.

Why is this place so empty? The interior is gorgeous, and the staff very friendly. It takes a while for food to arrive, but that's quite alright because it means FRESH and cooked to perfection. I had more than enough food for two meals. I got the lamb shawarma with fatoosh. The almond rice is so silky and the shawarm tender and perfectly seasoned. The fatoosh is HUGE and while a bit heavy on dressing, it was delicious. We got some warm and heavenly pita bread while we waited for our meal, and the garlic spread was awesome. I don't know how they make it but it is GREAT. THE ONLY thing that took one star off this review... whoever was in the restroom and left ahead of me DID NOT WASH HER HANDS. However, it could have been another customer (although there was only one other table in there besides us). IF I had seen her and she was a staff member, of course this review would have been different... all the good food in the world wouldn't have been able to make up for that. But again, I did not see who it was.

Fantastic food! Great service ( Thanks, AL!) Excellent vegetarian options , huge portions, and even an American foods kids menu for the non-adventurous little ones in your party. We had take out, but dining in is nice too.

We ordered the mixed grill for two. ( I believe that's what it was called). It came with delicious hummus, baba ghanoush, tabouli and a creamy garlic dip. The main part of the meal came with a variety of items....chicken and beef shawarma, falafel, dolmades, warm pita bread, grilled veggies and pine nut rice. We werent a big fan of the dolmades, not that they were bad, just a personal preference. The beef shawarma was a little sweet for our liking. I would definitely dine here again. Great and new experience!

  • Francine M.

Me and my husband got the mixed grill which was huge and came with soup or salad. Fair warning. This is much more food than two people can consume! Anticipate left overs. It came with Shawarma , grape leaves, rice, veggies, fallafal, shish kabob, shish kabish , and hummous, and baba gonoosh (sorry for all of the incorrect spellings). Definitely worth the money

The meal I had at Taboon was one of the best meals I have had in Saginaw. When you sit down, they bring you mini pitas with a garlic spread. The garlic spread was absolutely incredible. I know it is just made of garlic, lemon juice, olive oil, and salt. It was perfect with the little pitas though! For my entree, I ordered the delicious falafel sandwich. The falafel was super flavorful, and I loved that it had fresh pickles on it.

The restaurant appears to be a dump from the outside. Inside, however, can be described as luxurious. The menu has great variety, and the food was all exceptional, and certainly home made. Prices are not low, but food portions are generous. My favorite dishes involved the lamb and beef schwarmas. And all entrees come with a heaping stack of home made Mediterranean bread.

Bad service and believe it or not, the cook is actually the dish washer or the owner if he is in good mode (straight out of the waiter mouth), if u have tasted authentic middle eastern food, you will be really disappointed at this place, they got all the element of success, but never the drive or well.

I stopped going here last spring and tried it again last week. It was GREAT! Went back today to another delicious lunch and great service! We met the new manager and told her how nice everything was. If you tried this place last year and didn't have the best food or service....give it another try and you will be pleasantly surprised! I'm looking forward to going back soon!

The food here is consistently amazing. Our favorite is the Shish tawook dinner with rice, fattoush with Feta and spicy hummus with chicken. The service is a little slow but the food is well worth it. The only legitimate complaint is the temperature (cold inside), which is tolerable due to how good the food is here. Enjoy!

Excellent service, value and quality! I've ordered take out and eaten in, and Taboon is a yummy breath of fresh air. This is a great place for vegetarians and vegans. Portions are crazy huge and everything is so fresh! If dining with 2 or 3, order the veggie platter for a sampling of everything. My favorite items are the salad, (perfectly coated with citrusy-herb dressing) it beats the socks off of any Olive Garden salad any day, the falafel, tabbouleh, baba ganoosh, and THE BREAD. I will dream about the bread and garlic spread. Least favorite items are the lentil soup and cabbage rolls. I can't wait to get back and try the fresh juice next time.
